What is Salvation?

Salvation is the free gift of eternal life that is available only through Jesus Christ.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

Living forever would not mean much without a great place to live. So, salvation  includes being forever in the presence of God in the place called Heaven. This Heaven is an amazing, real place without pain, suffering, death, or sin of any kind.

Salvation also brings a serious change in the life you are now living on this earth. You can exchange an empty, self-centered life for a fulfilling, God-centered life; a life with real joy and peace including a genuine, personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

 Why Should I be Saved?

Heaven is not the only place that will exist eternally. There is also a real place known as Hell. This is a terrible place of torment, which was prepared  for Satan and the angels which rebelled against God with him.

Matthew 25:41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

Hell is also the final destination of all those who choose not to accept God's gift of salvation.  So, not only do you have a better life to gain here on earth, but, there is also eternal Heaven to gain and eternal Hell to avoid. It all depends on the choice you make!

How can I be Saved?

First, you must know your true condition, as you are, before God.

Romans 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:

Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

1 John 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

Ecclesiastes 7:20 For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.

Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

Sin, or iniquity, is the voluntary departure from or violation of God's laws or commands. It creates a barrier between God and man, because a Holy God cannot allow sin in His presence. Sin involves both what we do, and what we think. It includes both doing wrong, and failing to do right.

The cost of sin is death; both physical and spiritual. First, you are alone in this world. Then you are separated from this life by physical death, then spiritual death comes by being in Hell, forever separated from God .

Romans 6:23a For the wages of sin is death;...

Romans 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;

Ezekiel 18:4b  ...the soul that sinneth, it shall die.

Because of your sin, you cannot save yourself, or make your way to Heaven.

Romans 3:20a Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight:...

Hebrews 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

But, you can have the gift of God, salvation, by putting your faith and trust in what Jesus Christ did in your place, by His sacrifice on the cross to pay your sin debt.

Romans 6:23b  ...but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

1 John 5:11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Acts 16:30 And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?
31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

Your salvation can only be acquired with the ultimate cost being paid by Jesus.

You may have that gift by your simple choice and prayer. Choose to repent, or turn from your life of sin, but placing  your trust and faith in Jesus Christ to give you a new life and a home in Heaven to come.

You can choose by simply praying something like "Jesus, I know I have sinned and now turn to you and trust your sacrifice to save me. I believe you died for me and I want to serve you from this day forward. In Jesus name, Amen."

John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

1 John 5:11  And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
