Salvation is the free gift of eternal life that is available only through Jesus Christ.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
Salvation includes living forever, in the presence of God, in the place called Heaven. Heaven is a real place; but, totally amazing with no pain, suffering, or death.
Salvation also means a radically different life for you. You can exchange an empty, self-centered life for a fulfilling, God-centered life: a life with real peace and joy in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Why Should I be Saved?
Heaven is not the only place that will exist eternally. Unfortunately, Hell is also real. This is a terrible place of torment, which was prepared for Satan and the angels which rebelled against God with him.
Matthew 25:41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
Hell is also the final destination of all those who choose to continue a self-centered life and not accept God's gift of salvation. So, not only do you have a better life to gain here on earth, but, there is also eternal Heaven to gain and eternal Hell to avoid. It all depends on the choice you make!
How can I be Saved?
First, you should know where you really stand with God.
Romans 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
1 John 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
Ecclesiastes 7:20 For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.
Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
Sin is the voluntary departure from or violation of God's laws or commands. It creates a barrier between God and man; because a Holy God cannot allow sin in His presence. Sin involves both what we do and what we think. It includes both doing wrong, and failing to do right.
The cost of sin is death; both physical and spiritual. First, you are separated from this life by physical death, then you are forever separated from God in Hell by spiritual death .
Romans 6:23a For the wages of sin is death;...
Romans 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
Ezekiel 18:4b ...the soul that sinneth, it shall die.
Because of your guilt, you cannot save yourself, or make your own way to Heaven.
Hebrews 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
However, you can have the gift of God; salvation, by turning from your sin (repentance), and trusting in what Jesus Christ did for you by His sacrifice on the cross in your place.
Romans 6:23b ...but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
1 John 5:11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Your salvation can only be acquired by faith in what Jesus has already done.
Now, it s simply your choice. Choose to repent (or turn from your life of sin), and place your faith and trust in Jesus Christ to fulfill His promise to save you.
For example, you can just pray something like "Jesus, I know I have sinned and now I repent, and trust you to save me. I believe you died for me and I want to serve you from this day forward. In Jesus name, Amen."
John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
1 John 5:11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
