Our History

                                                             HARMONY BAPTIST CHURCH HISTORY

In the early months of 1994, the Lord began to deal with our pastor, Vance L. Catlin about starting an Independent Baptist Church.  After much prayer and soul searching, the decision to launch this ministry was made.

The first service of Harmony Baptist Church was held in the garage of the Catlin’s home on March 6, 1994.  On that Sunday there were 20 adults and 5 children present. Pastor Catlin’s message was taken from Psalm 121:

”I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.”

After meeting in the pastor’s garage for a few weeks, the church rented a county Civic Center and in May of 1994, the church moved into a rented storefront. The church grew and in April of 1995 the church moved into a larger storefront.

In the early months of 1998 it became evident that still another larger location was going be needed, and in July of 1998 the church was able to purchase 10 acres of property that had a church building already built.

The Lord continued bless and in April 2001 construction was started on our current auditorium that will seat just under 300.  Harmony Baptist moved in the new auditorium on May 5, 2002
In January of 2010 construction was begun on a new fellowship hall and classrooms and was completed in April 2012.
